Valencia is located in the East of Spain, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

It is the 3rd largest city of Spain after Madrid (350 km to the West) and Barcelona (350 km to the northeast), which are very well connected with Valencia by plane and train. The brand new high-speed train link between Valencia and Madrid is now connecting both cities in 95 minutes.

Valencia is one of the cities of Europe that has most experienced significant growth over recent years in terms of events and international recognition. This is due to the renovation of the city centre, the conference centre designed by Lord Foster, the creation of new cultural and environmental sites such as the City of Arts & Sciences the Oceanographic Marine Park and the Bioparc.

The city hosted the 32nd and 33rd America’s Cup and has become Europe’s second urban Formula 1 track after Monaco.

Some highlights of the city:

  • Walk, go for a jog, and lay down on the grass; or do a bike tour on the former river bed which has been transformed into a 14 km-long garden that crosses the city from west to east.
  • Feel the dynamism of the Mediterranean cities by visiting the Central Market, a beautiful art nouveau building considered a kind of cathedral of fresh food. Taste, smell, listen…
  • Enjoy a walking tour through the old city and discover the rich heritage left by different civilisations: Romans, Visigoths, Arabs…
  • Take your time to admire and have a “just landed into the future” feeling with the amazing buildings of the City of Arts & Sciences, landmark of Valencia designed by world-reputed architect, Santiago Calatrava.

Spain is divided into 17 regions of which the Valencia Region is one. It is located on the eastern shores of Spain, and occupies the territories that used to shape the historical Valencia Kingdom.

The Valencia Region is made up of 3 provinces: Castellon (in the North), Valencia (in the Centre) and Alicante (in the South).

Nowadays this region is known for its history, its charm, its “Spanishness”, its hospitality, the good weather all year round, the amazing fiestas, the innovative cultural activities and last but not least, for its Mediterranean cuisine -considered to be one of the best and healthiest in the world. The national dish, Paella, was born here.

Some suggestions to discover the region would be:

  • Enjoy the mild winter temperatures facing the sun on a terrace while you sip the local vegetarian drink horchata.
  • A “fly and drive” tour to discover the calm medieval villages inland of the north of Castellon and Teruel.
  • Play any kind of sport: ranging from a wide range of golf courses distributed along the territory, to a regatta on the America’s cup sailing course and passing over rich marine beds or walk across the secluded natural parks.
  • Let time drift by slowly, savour it by staying at a boutique hotel and enjoy any of the award-winning blue flag beaches or coves.
  • Feel the vibrating atmosphere of the tremendous nightlife of the cities.
  • Enjoy any of the hundreds of amazing festivities, such as las Fallas in Valencia, the Moors & Christians parades in Alcoy, the bonfires of St. John in Alicante…..all of them animated with the passionate local firework displays which will leave goose-bumps on your skin; don’t miss the colourful parades, musical bands playing in the streets, the open-air concerts….
  • Visit the vineyard areas in the Utiel-Requena district (60 km on the West of Valencia) or Moixent and Fontanars (80 km on the south of Valencia) and taste and learn about the wines made in the region which are increasingly attracting more awards.
  • And many more suggestions…
